EGYPT VISA

REQUIREMENTS

How can I get a visa to enter Egypt?

Depending on your nationality and travel circumstances, entry to Egypt may be possible through one of the following routes:

Egypt’s official Electronic Visa Portal allows eligible nationals to apply online before travel. The official portal states that applicants should create an account, complete the application, pay online, wait for approval by email, then download and print the e-Visa to present on arrival. The portal also advises applicants to apply at least 7 days before departure.
Official e-Visa portal

If your nationality is not eligible for the e-Visa, or if your passport/travel document does not qualify for e-Visa processing, you should apply through the nearest Egyptian embassy or consulate. The official e-Visa portal also notes that certain passport categories cannot use the e-Visa system and must apply via embassy/consulate instead.

Official Egyptian embassy guidance confirms that visa on arrival is not available to travelers from countries requiring pre-approval, and specifically states that Bangladeshi nationals require a visa prior to entry. It also states that border authorities retain the right to deny entry if necessary. Because I could not verify a single official central government webpage that publishes a complete nationality-by-nationality global visa-on-arrival list, the safest wording for your site is to advise travelers to confirm with their nearest Egyptian embassy/consulate before departure.

The official Egypt e-Visa portal states:
  • It is an official document permitting entry into and travel from Egypt.
  • Applicants must complete the form and pay online by credit or debit card.
  • A link to download the e-Visa is sent electronically after approval.
  • The printed e-Visa must be presented at the port of entry.
  • Possession of an e-Visa does not guarantee entry, final admission is decided by Egyptian border authorities.
  • Incomplete applications are rejected and visa processing fees are non-refundable.
  • e-Visa applications are not allowed at this stage for holders of Diplomatic, Service, Special, Official, Temporary, Nansen, Refugees, Mission, Alien’s, or July 51 Agreement passports, who must instead contact the nearest embassy or consulate.
The official e-Visa FAQ lists:
  • Single-entry tourist visa: USD 25
  • Multiple-entry tourist visa: USD 60
The e-Visa FAQ lists the following entry requirements on arrival:
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival date,
  • Printed e-Visa,
  • Travel itinerary,
  • Supporting letter when relevant, such as company letter or invitation letter for business/family visits,
  • Hotel booking or visit details for tourists.
