Dr. Catalin Pestrea is an implantable cardiac devices specialist and an interventional electrophysiologist. Dr. Aziz completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2010 and continued his training there in pediatric electrophysiology. During his fellowship, Dr. Aziz was awarded a training grant under the National Institute of Health (NIH) to investigate genotype and phenotype correlations in pediatric patients with long QT syndrome. Dr. Aziz also acquired skills in catheter ablation of pediatric arrhythmias and device (pacemaker and ICD) implantation. Following his fellowship, Dr. Aziz joined the Cleveland Clinic as a pediatric electrophysiologist. He is active in the training and teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, an activity that continuously inspires him. Dr. Aziz is also quite active in research and was the recent recipient of the SADS 2011 Young Investigator Award for his work on long QT syndrome.

Dr. Randall Thompson is an attending cardiologist at St. Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City and Professor of Medicine, University of Missouri – Kansas City. He earned his MD degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta before serving his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. His clinical specialty includes nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular CT imaging. His research interests in recent years have focused on the search for the origins of atherosclerosis leading to CT scanning of ancient mummies and indigenous people living in remote locations.

Thomas Binder, MD was born 1960 in Vienna and studied medicine at the Medical University in Vienna from where he graduated 1985. Prof. Binder was trained in internal medicine and cardiology at the general hospital of the University of Vienna (AKH). Research activities brought him to the Huntington Memorial Research Institute in Pasadena, Ca, USA where he was engaged in basic vascular research. In addition, he served as a clinical fellow at the Loma Linda Medical Center, Loma Linda, Ca, USA. Starting at an early stage of his career Dr. Binder was devoted to imaging techniques and, specifically echocardiography. Dr. Wayne Batchelor currently serves as the Director or Interventional Cardiology, Director of Interventional Cardiology Research, Innovation and Education and Associate Director of the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute in Fairfax, VA. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Duke University. Dr. Batchelor’s clinical and research interests span a broad range of complex structural heart and percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), including transcatheter mitral valve repair/replacement, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), percutaneous left atrial appendage closure and ASD/PFO closure.
