Dr. Catalin Pestrea is an implantable cardiac devices specialist and an interventional electrophysiologist. He is the head of the Cardiac Devices and Electrophysiology Unit of the Brasov County Clinical Emergency Hospital in the center of Romania. In 2018, he performed the first permanent His bundle pacing procedures, and in 2019, the first left bundle branch area pacing procedures in Romania. Since then, he has implemented these procedures in his laboratory as a standard of care, with approximately half of all the pacing cases being conduction system pacing. ACC vice president, received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, and completed his residency and chief residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in cardiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His first faculty appointment was at Allegheny General Hospital, then MCP/Hahnemann University School of Medicine, where he directed the cardiology fellowship.

He then moved to the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where in 2019 he was named the George A. Kramer’s principal research interest has been the application of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) to the cardiovascular system in studies from mice to large animals to humans.

Prior to serving as ACC Vice President, Kramer served as President of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR), ACC Treasurer, Chair of ACC’s Imaging Council, and Chair of the Clinical and Integrative Cardiovascular Sciences NIH study section. Kramer is an associate editor at JACC and previously was Executive Editor of JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging. He currently serves on the editorial boards of Circulation, Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging and Vascular Medicine. Lucy M. Safi, DO, FACC, FASE, FSCAI is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine and currently works as an echocardiographer and interventional echocardiographer at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Safi completed cardiology fellowship at Cooper University Hospital where she was selected as both chief cardiology fellow and chief GME fellow. Subsequently, she completed an advanced echocardiography fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Safi was Director of Interventional Echocardiography at Hackensack University Medical Center. Her research interests focus on valvular heart disease, structural heart imaging, and AI in echo. Dr. Safi has been an active member in the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) for many years and has served on numerous ASE councils and committees, currently serving on the ASE education committee and ASE scientific Sessions planning committee. She is a graduate of the inaugural ASE leadership academy and was recently elected as a member of the ASE Board of Directors.

Dr. Mirvat Alasnag is the Director of the Catheterization Laboratory at the King Fahd Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Professor Mohamed Abdel-Wahab is currently holding the position of Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Head of the Structural Heart Disease Department at the Leipzig Heart Center, and is a Professor of Interventional Cardiology at the University of Leipzig – Germany. The Leipzig Heart Center is one of the largest centers for cardiovascular disease management in Europe. He is leading clinical and research programs in the field of transcatheter valve replacement and complex coronary interventions. Before he moved to Leipzig, Abdel-Wahab was leading the coronary and structural heart disease program at the Heart Center of the Segeberger Kliniken in Bad Segeberg – Germany. Dr. Aziz completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2010 and continued his training there in pediatric electrophysiology. During his fellowship, Dr. Aziz was awarded a training grant under the National Institute of Health (NIH) to investigate genotype and phenotype correlations in pediatric patients with long QT syndrome. Starting at an early stage of his career Dr. Binder was devoted to imaging techniques and, specifically echocardiography. His scientific focus is clinical echocardiography and new techniques such as three-dimensional echo and speckle tracking. Dr. Binder published numerous peer review articles in national and international journals and contributed to several textbooks dealing with echocardiography.

Zuyue Wang is Regional Medical Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology at Baylor Scott & White, The Heart Hospitals, Plano, Denton and McKenny, TX. She is also an Associate Program Director of Cardiology Fellowship and Program Director of Advanced Cardiology Imaging fellowship.

Her areas of interest are echocardiography, especially valvular heart disease, diseases of the aorta, endocarditis, and the role of 2D/3D TEE for guiding surgical and interventional procedures. Dr. Wang serves an echocardiography co-investigator on multiple clinical trials. She is a frequently invited speaker at regional, national, and international meetings. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals.
She was Associate Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University.

She was a twice recipient of the Joseph Lindsay Teaching Award at Georgetown University/MedStar Washington Hospital Center and a twice recipient of the Joel Rosenthal Teaching Award at Baylor Scott & White, The Heart Hospital.

Dr. Wang is a fellow of the ASE and ACC, and she served as an ASE perioperative executive council member.
