Dr. Alsaid earned his medical degree in Egypt in 2008 and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Michigan State University, where he served as Chief Medical Resident, followed by General Cardiology and Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowships at Geisinger Medical Center. Prior to joining Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital, Dr. Alsaid held pivotal leadership roles at Geisinger Medical Center, including Medical Director for the Cardiac CT Lab and Interim Echo Lab Director. As an Assistant Professor of Cardiology, he played a key role in the Internal Medicine residency program, General Cardiology Fellowship, and Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship programs.
Since joining The Heart Hospital in August 2022 as the Medical Director of Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging CT & MRI Programs, Dr. Alsaid has spearheaded remarkable growth in both volume and quality of cardiac imaging services. Collaborating with multiple stakeholders, he has overseen the acquisition of cutting-edge hardware and software, and optimized scanning and reporting protocols. Dr. Binita Shah was awarded her MD and a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation from NYU School of Medicine and completed her Interventional Cardiology fellowship at NYU.

Dr. Shah is Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU School of Medicine, Director of Research for Interventional Cardiology at NYU Langone Health, and Co-Director of Research for NYU Langone Heart. She is also Associate Director of Interventional Cardiology and Director of the Transcatheter Valve Program at the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System. Dr. Shah conducts clinical translational research and utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndrome with a focus on optimization of the underlying inflammatory and glucometabolic milieu. She was a KL2 Scholar, recipient of grants from the American College of Cardiology Foundation and the American Heart Association Clinical Research Program, and principal investigator of the randomized VA-funded Colchicine-PCI trial and NIH-funded ColCorona-US study. Dr. Shah is currently principal investigator of the ongoing NIH-funded CLEAR SYNERGY Biospecimen substudy and the VA-funded multicenter randomized POPCORN trial.

Dr. Shah serves on multiple national committees through the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association including its Leadership Committee of the Council on Clinical Cardiology. She is also Associate Editor for Circulation Cardiovascular Intervention and serves on the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions Board of Trustees.

Catalin Pestrea

Dr. Catalin Pestrea is an implantable cardiac devices specialist and an interventional electrophysiologist. He is the head of the Cardiac Devices and Electrophysiology Unit of the Brasov County Clinical Emergency Hospital in the center of Romania. In 2018, he performed the first permanent His bundle pacing procedures, and in 2019, the first left bundle branch area pacing procedures in Romania. Since then, he has implemented these procedures in his laboratory as a standard of care, with approximately half of all the pacing cases being conduction system pacing. Since 2020, he has been an international proctor for conduction system pacing, helping to launch these therapies in several hospitals from countries like Jordan, Marrocco, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bulgaria, Bosnia, and Macedonia. He has published several articles on this topic and is part of ongoing national and international trials for conduction system pacing.

ACC vice president, received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, and completed his residency and chief residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in cardiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His first faculty appointment was at Allegheny General Hospital, then MCP/Hahnemann University School of Medicine, where he directed the cardiology fellowship.

He then moved to the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where in 2019 he was named the George A. Beller/Lantheus Medical Imaging Distinguished Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine, Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, and Medical Director of the Heart and Vascular Science Line. Kramer’s principal research interest has been the application of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) to the cardiovascular system in studies from mice to large animals to humans.

Prior to serving as ACC Vice President, Kramer served as President of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR), ACC Treasurer, Chair of ACC’s Imaging Council, and Chair of the Clinical and Integrative Cardiovascular Sciences NIH study section. Dr. Mirvat Alasnag is the Director of the Catheterization Laboratory at the King Fahd Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She was the first female interventional cardiologist in the Gulf region and has since represented women on multiple medical committees, including the Saudi Arabian Cardiac Interventional Society Board & the EAPCI Women’s Steering Committee. Professor Mohamed Abdel-Wahab is currently holding the position of Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Head of the Structural Heart Disease Department at the Leipzig Heart Center, and is a Professor of Interventional Cardiology at the University of Leipzig – Germany. The Leipzig Heart Center is one of the largest centers for cardiovascular disease management in Europe. He is leading clinical and research programs in the field of transcatheter valve replacement and complex coronary interventions. Before he moved to Leipzig, Abdel-Wahab was leading the coronary and structural heart disease program at the Heart Center of the Segeberger Kliniken in Bad Segeberg – Germany. Professor Abdel-Wahab was a nucleus member of the Working Group on Interventional Cardiology of the German Society of Cardiology, and is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, a member of several international academic boards, and has published more than 250 papers in the field of interventional cardiology in peer review journals.

Mpiko Ntsekhe is the Hellen and Morris Mauerberger Professor and Chair of Cardiology, at the University of Cape Town, and Head of The Cardiac Clinic at Groote Schuur Hospital. Panithaya Chareonthaitawee

Panithaya Chareonthaitawee, MD, is a Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. She is Director of the Nuclear Cardiology Laboratory, Education Chair, and Diversity Co-Chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Peter Aziz

Dr. Aziz completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2010 and continued his training there in pediatric electrophysiology. During his fellowship, Dr. Aziz was awarded a training grant under the National Institute of Health (NIH) to investigate genotype and phenotype correlations in pediatric patients with long QT syndrome. Dr. Aziz also acquired skills in catheter ablation of pediatric arrhythmias and device (pacemaker and ICD) implantation. Following his fellowship, Dr. Aziz joined the Cleveland Clinic as a pediatric electrophysiologist. He is active in the training and teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, an activity that continuously inspires him. Dr. Aziz is also quite active in research and was the recent recipient of the SADS 2011 Young Investigator Award for his work on long QT syndrome.

Dr Aziz acquired skills in Catheter Ablation of pediatric arrhythmias and device implantation which is a regular part of his clinical practice. He is the director of the Inherited Arrhythmia Clinic and of Pediatric Sports Cardiology.

Randall Thompson

Dr. Randall Thompson is an attending cardiologist at St. Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City and Professor of Medicine, University of Missouri – Kansas City. He earned his MD degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta before serving his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Thomas Binder, MD was born 1960 in Vienna and studied medicine at the Medical University in Vienna from where he graduated 1985. Prof. Binder was trained in internal medicine and cardiology at the general hospital of the University of Vienna (AKH). Research activities brought him to the Huntington Memorial Research Institute in Pasadena, Ca, USA where he was engaged in basic vascular research. In addition, he served as a clinical fellow at the Loma Linda Medical Center, Loma Linda, Ca, USA. Starting at an early stage of his career Dr. Binder was devoted to imaging techniques and, specifically echocardiography. His scientific focus is clinical echocardiography and new techniques such as three-dimensional echo and speckle tracking.
