Dr. Stefan Jahnel is a developmental biologist by training. During his PhD he studied the evolution of muscle cells using sea anemones as a model.

2018 he joined Sasha Mendjan’s group at the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Vienna), where he co-developed the first self-organizing cardiac organoid system (cardioids) using human pluripotent stem cells.
